The Wise Multi-currency account (formerly TransferWise) is an international account for paying, sending and receiving money anywhere in the world at the real exchange rate (interbank exchange rate). Opening a Wise account allows you to have several accounts in local currencies. Each customer has a European account with the IBAN of his choice (FR, DE or other) as well as a British account (Pound Sterling), Australian account (Australian Dollar), American account (American Dollar), etc. This means that the account holder can send and receive money in any of these 50 currencies without any fees as long as they do it from their local currency account.
It is then possible to transfer money from one account to another in just a few seconds at the real exchange rate (like Google, Visa or Mastercard). The transfer from one currency to another incurs very minimal fees compared to a traditional bank or an online bank and this is the biggest advantage of Wise. This rate is also indicated before validating a multi-currency transfer so there are never any unpleasant surprises.
If you wish to combine Wise Multidevise with a Wise Business account, you should know that this is possible and that it is very simple to switch from your personal account to your pro account.
With the Visa Wise debit card, you can pay in any currency, anywhere in the world. If you have a positive balance in your local currency account, that account will be used. However, if you do not have sufficient funds, your main account will be used and an automatic conversion will be made at the lowest fee.
The Wise offer is broken down as follows:
- 1 physical Visa debit card (standard or biodegradable)
- Unlimited number of virtual bank cards
- 10 bank accounts in 10 different currencies
- 1 savings account paying 1.82% in euros and 3.43% in pounds sterling
- 1 application allowing the following operations:
- Possibility to hold more than 50 different currencies
- Sending a money request to a third party (individual or company): payment link to obtain a payment without account number
- Immediate or scheduled SEPA and international transfer
- Donation to a charity
- Management of direct debits
- Automatic conversion from one currency to another according to the exchange rate
- QR code payment with Wise QR (PayNow support)
- Immediate payment between friends (contacts who also use Wise)
Wise does not allow to issue and receive checks. The neobank does not allow to deposit cash like the Nickel bank for example.
Insurance and assistance
The Wise card does not include insurance in addition to that provided by Visa. These are the Visa Classic insurances which cover medical expenses abroad and repatriation for oneself and one’s family.
Wise also does not offer assistance abroad.
As for Wise’s customer support, it answers customers 24/7 in more than 14 languages around the world.
